Intuitive touch software for winding machines – powerful and versatile

The user interface was specially developed for easy and efficient touch operation on winding machines.
In addition to basic functions such as opening, closing, copying, saving, deleting, editing, and printing
of winding programs, the software offers a wide range of additional features.

These include:

  • an integrated language switch for international use,

  • extensive configuration options,

  • service-relevant diagnostic tools, and

  • functions for system optimization and machine customization.

Thanks to its clearly structured interface, the software supports both operators in everyday production and technical staff in machine configuration.

Home screen – central user interface Display of main winding parameters and activated setup functions Display of main winding parameters and special functions
Manual functions Programming page for entering all relevant winding parameters Programming page with example – copying the right reversal point
Programming page for entering all relevant winding parameters Programming functions & control, winding types extension Display and acknowledgment of already corrected errors
Overview of active error messages INPUTS: Configuration of programmable inputs and outputs with various options Language switching – also supports Cyrillic and Chinese
I/O diagnostics incl. forcing function, status queries, and live diagnostics Language texts for individual adaptation of interface texts System update function for software maintenance
Backup function PLC integration for external control and data exchange PLC integration incl. I/O forcing, status monitoring, and live diagnostics
System settings – basic info Network settings Process step management
This interface allows users to open winding programs from various storage sources: internal iSATA drive, USB stick, network drive (FTP server), or USB floppy disk drive. As the number of stored programs increases over time, a built-in search function helps streamline selection. By entering the first three characters, the program list is automatically filtered to show relevant matches. Programs can also be saved to all of the above storage media, internal iSATA drive, USB stick, network (FTP), and floppy disk drive.

🔧 Dynamic Load Lines – RWC 201

The adjacent diagram shows the relationship between the winding radius and the resulting wire tension under different operating conditions of the RWC 201 winding machine.

As the winding radius increases – i.e. as the spool diameter becomes larger – the force at the winding axis decreases. The physical relationship is simple:

Power = Torque × Speed

Since the machine power remains constant, increasing speed reduces the torque – and thus also the possible wire tension.

⚙️ Pulley Ratio Overview – RWC 201

The RWC 201 machine is equipped with an interchangeable pulley system. The four available gear stages allow for adaptation to different torque and speed requirements:

Gear Stage Speed (RPM) Torque – 250 Torque – 450/650 Description
0 750 24.4 Nm 30.8 Nm Maximum torque – for large spools and high tension
1 1500 12.2 Nm 15.4 Nm Standard operation – balanced torque/speed ratio
2 3000 6.1 Nm 7.7 Nm Direct drive – nominal speed of the AC servo motor
3 6000 3.05 Nm 3.85 Nm High-speed – for fine wires and fast cycles

📈 Chart Interpretation

  • The colored lines represent the wire tension [N] depending on the winding radius [mm] for RWC 201-250 and RWC 201-450/650.
  • The left Y-axis is logarithmic to show both low and high tension values clearly.
  • The right Y-axis indicates common wire diameters [mm] for reference.
  • The higher the gear stage (e.g. stage 3 @ 6000 RPM), the lower the torque – ideal for high-speed winding with low force requirements.

🧩 Practical Use

This diagram supports selecting the optimal drive configuration based on:

  • Matching the wire gauge (e.g. 0.25 mm vs. 3.0 mm)
  • Considering the required tension range
  • Desired winding speed
  • Spool diameter and space constraints

The RWC 201 system can thus be precisely tailored to diverse applications in sensor and transformer manufacturing.

🔎 Note: In machines equipped with dual spindles, the effective torque per spindle is halved. Actual wire tension also depends on the configured wire brake and may vary accordingly.
